Botswana
is home to the world's largest gem diamond mine and is the
leading producer of diamonds by value. It possesses huge coal
resources in the eastern part of the country, estimated at
17 billion tonnes. The quality of coal in these deposits is
suitable for power generation. Nickel, cobalt, and soda ash
production also play significant roles in the economy. Botswana’s
geologic environment and mineral investment climate, political
stability, and low tax rates make it an attractive destination
for foreign mineral investment. |
